Hong Kong International Airport




Hong Kong International Airport - is the main airport and is located on artificial island, not far away from Hong Kong City. HK Airport was opened in 1998 to replace too overcrowded Kai Tak Airport, which was one of the most dangerous airports in the world in terms of difficulty of approach.

Terminal 1&2




Terminal 1 is the 3rd largest airport terminal building after Dubai's Terminal 3 and Beijing Capital's Terminal 3. However, at the time when it just opened in 1998, it was the largest terminal, with a total floor area of 531,000 square meters.

Terminal 2




Terminal 2 was opened on 28th February 2007, with an area measuring 140,000 meters squared. However, it has no gates - it is only a check-in area for departing passengers. After checking-in, passengers are transported underground to the gates in Terminal 1. A lot of low-cost and some full-service airlines operate out of Terminal 2.
